All times ET (Eastern Time). EDT = summer (UTC-4). EST = winter (UTC-5). CT is 1h behind ET, MT 2h, PT 3h. Vietnam is 11h ahead of EDT, 12h ahead of EST.

Situation A — Right now is before 4pm ET today

Best option: 1-Day Emergency — $110 all-in — Apply Right Now

You are in the most favorable position. The Vietnamese government office opens at 8:00 VNT tomorrow morning and closes at 11:00 VNT (= 4pm ET today, your deadline to submit). Submitting now gives the full processing window. The eVisa PDF arrives by email before your check-in. This is the cheapest and most reliable option for a tomorrow departure.

The 1-Day Emergency cutoff has passed (4pm ET). However, the VNT office is still open until 18:00 VNT = 1am ET tonight. The 1-Hour Ultra Emergency ($185) delivers in approximately 60 minutes — so submitting at 10pm ET tonight will have your eVisa by 11pm ET. Print it and you are ready for tomorrow’s check-in.

The VNT processing office is closed (18:00–08:00 VNT). Full eVisa processing is not available right now. Two options: (1) Boarding Approval Letter — WhatsApp in 30 minutes, 24/7, covers your check-in. (2) Set an alarm for 7am ET and apply for 5-Hour Emergency ($125) first thing when the VNT office reopens. Both can be done — Boarding Letter as bridge, eVisa before landing.

For later morning flights: 2.5-Hour Super Emergency ($155) is available before 10am ET. Most afternoon and evening US departures to Vietnam check in at 1pm–8pm ET — these tiers cover those flights comfortably.

eVisa Processing? Flight Tomorrow?

Applied Already But Status Still Says “Processing” — Do Not Reapply

Critical — Do NOT submit a second application

A duplicate creates two conflicting Reference Numbers in the Vietnam Immigration system. Both files are flagged for manual deduplication — adding 24 to 48 hours before either resolves. This is the single most common way Americans turn a recoverable situation into a missed flight. Don’t do it no matter how stressed you are.

While You Wait for the eVisa

Three Things to Do the Moment You Apply

Check spam folder immediately

eVisa PDF is sent to the email provided at application. Many email providers (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook) filter visa emails to spam or Promotions. Check every 15 minutes. Add support@vietnamvisaeasy.com to your safe sender list now.

Verify entry point on your booking

Open your flight confirmation. Find the Vietnamese airport where you first land. JFK–ICN–SGN: your entry port is SGN. LAX–NRT–HAN: your entry port is HAN. This must match exactly what is on the eVisa. Wrong entry port = denied at Vietnamese immigration.

Print the PDF when it arrives

eVisa is delivered as PDF. Print one physical copy to present at check-in in addition to showing it on your phone. Many US airline check-in agents (especially at KE, VN, OZ counters) prefer a physical copy. Print before leaving for the airport.

Three things that cause US travelers to miss this deadline

Middle name missing: US passports include middle names in the MRZ. Enter full legal name — Given Name (including middle) + Surname — exactly as on the bio-data page.
Wrong arrival date: JFK to SGN departing Monday night arrives Wednesday morning VNT (crosses International Date Line + long flight). Use the Vietnam arrival date from the booking confirmation.
Assuming 1-Hour means 1am ET is no problem: Submit 5–10 minutes before the cutoff and there is no guarantee. The 1am ET window closes exactly at 18:00 VNT. Always submit with buffer.
