Step 1 — Diagnose
Which Deadline Did You Actually Miss? There Are Five — Not One.
Most US travelers think of “the Vietnam visa deadline” as a single point. It is not. There are five separate cutoffs in ET, spread across two days. Missing the first one does not mean the rest are gone. Find the one you missed — then read only that rescue section below.

Missed: Weekend VNT deadline (Saturday or Sunday)
Standard tiers not available on weekends — two weekend-specific options remain
Vietnamese immigration does not process standard eVisa tiers on weekends. The deadlines above (4pm, 8am, 10am, 1am) only apply Mon–Fri VNT. For a weekend departure:
| Weekend Service | Submit before 8pm ET Friday / 5pm ET Sat or Sun (= 15:00 VNT). New $230, speed-up $210. Results next VNT morning batch (Mon 8am VNT). |
| Boarding Letter | Any time, 24/7, including all of Saturday and Sunday. WhatsApp 30 min. Full eVisa before landing. |

Special Case: Applied But Still Processing
Applied on evisa.gov.vn and Status Is Still “Processing” — Do Not Reapply
|
Do NOT submit a second application
Two conflicting Reference Numbers = 24–48 hour manual deduplication. The most common way Americans turn a recoverable missed deadline into an unrecoverable one.
|
WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 with these 3 items:
| Reference Code | From evisa.gov.vn — format E260705USA... |
| Registered email | Email used when submitting on evisa.gov.vn |
| Flight to Vietnam | Flight number arriving in Vietnam, e.g. KE 689 / UA 869 / VN 54 |
|
Free assessment
| Path A | Application is correct. Escalate directly. No new government fee. ~60 min. Boarding Letter as bridge. |
| Path B | Error found (entry point, name, date). Corrected resubmission. Boarding Letter immediately as bridge. |

Why This Happens
Four Reasons US Travelers Miss Vietnam Visa Deadlines — And the Fix for Each
|
Thinking the 1-Day deadline is the day of departure
The 1-Day cutoff is 4pm ET the day before departure (= 11:00 VNT on the day of processing). Most travelers assume they can apply on the morning of departure and get 1-Day service. At 8am ET on departure day, only the 5-Hour and faster tiers are available.
|
|
|
Not accounting for the ET–VNT time gap
Vietnam is 11 hours ahead of EDT. Applying at 9am ET means it is already 8pm VNT — only 2 hours of VNT processing time remain before the office closes at 18:00 VNT. Many Americans applying “in the morning” have already missed the 1-Day and 5-Hour windows.
|
|
|
Applying on a Thursday evening for a Friday flight
A Thursday 6pm ET application (= 5am VNT Friday) means the 1-Day window is still open for a Friday flight. But many Americans delay until Friday morning thinking “my flight is today.” At 9am ET Friday it is already 8pm VNT Friday — only the 1-Hour tier and Boarding Letter remain.
|
|
|
Assuming weekends work like weekdays
Standard eVisa tiers (1-Day through 1-Hour) are not available on Vietnamese weekends. For a Saturday or Sunday departure, the standard weekday cutoffs do not apply. Weekend Service and Boarding Letter are the only options — and both must be arranged before the flight departs.

I missed the Vietnam visa deadline. Can I still get a visa? ▼
Yes, in most cases. Which deadline you missed determines what remains. Missed 4pm ET (1-Day): 2.5-Hour ($155 before 10am ET) and 1-Hour ($185 before 1am ET) still open. Missed 1am ET: Boarding Letter 30 min via WhatsApp +84 947 754 252, 24/7. Tomorrow: 5-Hour reopens at 8am ET.
Which Vietnam visa deadline did I actually miss? ▼

Boarding Letter: no deadline, 24/7. If it is 7pm ET, you only missed the 1-Day and 5-Hour tiers — 1-Hour eVisa and Boarding Letter are still available.
My eVisa is Processing past the deadline. What do I do? ▼
