Uploading Aadhaar card, PAN card, or driving licence instead of passport
The eVisa requires the passport bio-data page only. Aadhaar and PAN are domestic identity documents not recognised in the Vietnamese immigration system. Only the blue Indian passport bio-data page is accepted. Flat on white surface, JPEG under 2MB, MRZ strip at bottom fully readable.

Selecting Singapore, Bangkok, or Kuala Lumpur as entry point
Most Indian flights to Vietnam connect through Singapore Changi (SIN), Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK), or Kuala Lumpur (KUL). These are transit airports where you do not clear Vietnamese immigration. Select only the Vietnamese airport: Tan Son Nhat (SGN) for HCMC, Noi Bai (HAN) for Hanoi, Da Nang (DAD) for Da Nang.

Using RuPay card or a card without international transactions enabled
RuPay is not accepted at VietnamVisaEasy or on the Vietnamese government eVisa portal. Enable international transactions on your Visa or Mastercard through your bank app (HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Axis, Kotak all offer this in the app) before applying. Alternative: PayPal linked to your Indian bank account processes reliably.

Entering a nickname or short form of name instead of full passport name
Indian passports print the full legal name as given by the applicant. The eVisa application must match exactly. If your passport says RAJESH KUMAR SHARMA, enter that — not RAJESH SHARMA or R K SHARMA. Vietnamese immigration systems compare MRZ data character by character. Name mismatches cause secondary screening and sometimes denial even with a valid approved eVisa.

Entering the Indian departure date instead of the Vietnam arrival date
India and Vietnam are close in time (1.5 hours), but flights still cross a calendar boundary for overnight departures. A flight from Delhi at 11pm IST lands in Ho Chi Minh City the next morning Vietnam time — one calendar day later. Check the Vietnam arrival date in your booking confirmation, not the Indian departure date.

Reapplying on evisa.gov.vn when the original application is Processing
A second application creates two conflicting reference numbers. Vietnamese Immigration holds both for manual deduplication — adding 24 to 48 hours to resolution.
