If you’re planning a trip to Vietnam, you might not need a visa! As of 2024, citizens of 26 countries can enjoy visa-free entry to Vietnam for stays ranging from 14 to 90 days, depending on nationality. Read on to discover whether your country is on the list, the conditions for entry, and how you can extend your stay if needed.

What Is Vietnam Visa Exemption?

Vietnam Visa Exemption, also known as visa-free entry or visa waiver, allows citizens of eligible countries to enter and stay in Vietnam for a limited time without applying for a visa. This exemption is granted under Vietnam’s bilateral or unilateral agreements with specific nations.

Key benefits:

  • Save time: No need to apply for a visa before arrival.
  • Save money: Avoid visa processing fees.
  • Convenience: Simplified travel planning.

Last update: Nov 11, 2024

Foreigners who are citizens of countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas by Viet Nam when entering Viet Nam will be granted a 45-day temporary residence certificate (see the list of countries with unilateral visa exemption from Viet Nam). Foreigners exempted from visas under international treaties to which Viet Nam is a party will be granted a temporary stay period according to the provisions of the international treaty. If the international treaty does not stipulate the temporary stay period, a 30-day temporary residence period will be granted (see the list of visa-exempt countries).
