Vietnam eVisa Pending for Days? Three Reasons It Stalls and How to Fix Each One Fast

Direct answer
A Vietnam eVisa pending for multiple days is caused by one of three things: standard batch queue delay, a silent Amendment Required error that immigration flagged without emailing you, or a wrong entry in the status check.
Fix — do not reapply. Reapplying creates a 24–48h deduplication hold on both applications. Contact WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 with Reference Code (E260705...) + registered email + flight number. Path A: application correct — free escalation ~60 min. Path B: error found — free correction then priority resubmit.
Speed Up from USD 65 (USD 25 govt fee deducted). Flight today: Boarding Letter in 30 min, 24/7.
Check status at evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search using Reference Code (E260705...) + registered email before doing anything else.
Step One: Check the Actual Status on evisa.gov.vn
Before taking any action, confirm what the current status actually is. Many travelers check their original application confirmation email — which shows the status at the time of submission — rather than the live status. The live status can be different, including Amendment Required, which receives no email notification.

| What you need | Reference Code from post-payment email on evisa.gov.vn. Format: E260705USA... Not the Application Number from form-filling. Check spam for "evisa.gov.vn" if not found. |
| Status: In Process | Application is in the standard queue. Could be normal processing or could be stuck. → Go to Reason 1 below. |
| Status: Amendment Required | Immigration flagged an error. No email was sent. Application is not moving until corrected. → Go to Reason 2 below. |
| Status: Approved | eVisa is approved. Check the email registered on evisa.gov.vn including spam. If email not received, contact WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 with Reference Code for re-delivery. |
Reason 1: Standard Queue Delay — Application Is Correct But Slow
Vietnamese immigration processes eVisa applications in batches over 3 to 5 Vietnamese business days. This excludes weekends and Vietnamese public holidays — Tet can pause processing for an entire week. If your application falls in or around a holiday, what looks like a 5-day delay can actually be 8 or 10 calendar days of waiting with no status movement.
If the application is correct and simply sitting in the standard queue, Speed Up moves it to a priority queue where immigration officers review it ahead of the standard batch. This is Path A. Path A escalation is included free with any Speed Up tier — you only pay the tier price, and the USD 25 government fee already paid is deducted.
The critical mistake here is reapplying. The instinct when a visa has been sitting for 5 days with a flight in 48 hours is to submit a fresh application. This creates two Reference Numbers with the same passport number. Both are placed on a deduplication hold for 24 to 48 hours while immigration determines which is the legitimate submission. Neither application moves during this hold. The delay doubles, and the second USD 25 government fee is non-refundable.
Reason 2: Amendment Required — Silent Error No One Told You About
Amendment Required is the most damaging pending status because Vietnamese immigration does not send an email when it flags an error. The application simply stops moving. Many travelers wait 5, 7, or even 10 days not realising the status changed from In Process to Amendment Required the day after they submitted.
The four most common causes, in order of frequency:
| Error type | What happened | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| HEIC photo (iPhone) | iPhone defaults to HEIC format. Vietnam eVisa requires JPEG. Submitted photo was not accepted. | Retake via WhatsApp camera (auto-JPEG) or Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. |
| Wrong entry port | Transit hub entered instead of Vietnamese airport. SIN, ICN, NRT, or DXB instead of SGN, HAN, or DAD. | Correct to Vietnamese airport code: SGN (HCMC), HAN (Hanoi), DAD (Da Nang), PQC, CXR. |
| Missing middle name | Name on application does not match passport MRZ. Middle name omitted or abbreviated. | Enter full legal name as shown in MRZ line at bottom of passport photo page. |
| MM/DD date format | Entry date or date of birth entered in US format (MM/DD/YYYY) instead of DD/MM/YYYY. | Correct to DD/MM/YYYY. Check both entry date and date of birth fields. |
Path B correction is free as part of any Speed Up tier. After correction the application is priority-resubmitted, but the processing clock resets to Day 1. Choose a faster tier if your flight is soon.
Reason 3: You Are Checking the Wrong Status
A third scenario: the eVisa may already be approved but the approval email went to spam, or was sent to an email address that was mistyped during application. Some travelers also check the wrong Reference Code — using the Application Number from the form-filling stage rather than the Reference Code from the post-payment confirmation email.
Check spam for any email from evisa.gov.vn. If you cannot find the Reference Code, WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 with a screenshot of your payment receipt and the team will look up the Reference Code for free.
Speed Up Pricing — Choose by Time Remaining
All Speed Up prices apply when you already applied on evisa.gov.vn and paid the USD 25 government fee. That fee is deducted from every tier. Speed Up is always USD 25 cheaper than a new application for the same processing speed.
| Tier | Speed Up | VNT cutoff | ET cutoff | AEST cutoff | Use when |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3-Day | $65 | 11:00 | midnight | 14:00 | Flight 3+ business days away |
| 2-Day | $80 | 11:00 | midnight | 14:00 | Flight in 2 business days |
| 1-Day | $85 | 11:00 | midnight | 14:00 | Flight tomorrow |
| 5-Hour | $100 | 13:00 | 02:00 | 16:00 | 5+ hours to check-in |
| 2.5-Hour | $130 | 15:00 | 04:00 | 18:00 | 2.5–5 hours to check-in |
| 1-Hour | $160 | 18:00 | 07:00 | 21:00 | At airport, check-in open |
| Weekend | $210 | 15:00 Sat/Sun | 04:00 Sat/Sun | 18:00 Sat/Sun | Saturday or Sunday flight |
| Boarding Letter | WhatsApp 24/7 | 24/7 | 24/7 | 24/7 | After 18:00 VNT — 30 min bridge |
Path B cases: clock resets to Day 1 from correction resubmission — choose a faster tier if flight is within 2 days. Multiple entry: add USD 25.
If Your Flight Is Today — Boarding Letter Bridge
If check-in closes before the eVisa can be approved — either because the cutoff has passed or because it is after 18:00 VNT — the Boarding Letter is the immediate action. It is a formal document on VietnamVisaEasy letterhead confirming the application is registered in the Vietnamese immigration system and in active priority processing. Airlines accept it at check-in.
Issued via WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 in approximately 30 minutes, 24 hours a day. The approved eVisa PDF is delivered by email before the flight lands in Vietnam. Present the Boarding Letter to the check-in supervisor — not the standard counter — and request boarding.
