Middle name omitted from the application
Canadian passports print full legal names. If your passport bio-data page says JENNIFER MARIE TREMBLAY, the eVisa must say exactly that. A flight leaving Vancouver Thursday at 11pm crosses the Pacific and the International Date Line. It lands in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday morning Vietnam time ā two calendar days later. Entering Thursday (the CA departure date) creates an eVisa with an arrival date two days too early. If you try to enter on Saturday with an eVisa dated Thursday, you are inside the validity window, which is fine. But if the visa is dated Saturday and you arrive Thursday, it is not yet valid. Selecting Seoul, Tokyo, or Taipei as the entry point
Canadian flights almost never fly direct to Vietnam. They connect through Asian hubs ā Seoul Incheon (ICN), Tokyo Narita (NRT), Taipei Taoyuan (TPE), Hong Kong (HKG). These are transit airports. The entry point on the eVisa must be the Vietnamese airport: Tan Son Nhat (SGN) for Ho Chi Minh City, Noi Bai (HAN) for Hanoi. Selecting Seoul as the entry point means the visa is worthless at the Vietnamese immigration counter.

Uploading an iPhone HEIC photo
The Vietnam eVisa system does not accept HEIC format. iPhones save photos in HEIC by default. An HEIC file is rejected silently or routes to manual review, adding 24ā48 hours to any processing tier. Convert before uploading: Settings ā Camera ā Formats ā Most Compatible (to save future photos as JPEG), or share the photo to Files and convert it there.

The only options from 10pm ET Friday to 7pm ET Sunday are the Weekend Visa Service (before 2am ET each day) and the Boarding Approval Letter (24/7). Standard weekday tiers resume Monday VNT, which is Sunday night ET around 7ā8pm.

Understanding the Deadline System ā No Table, Just Plain English
Vietnam time (VNT, UTC+7) is 12 hours ahead of ET (EST), 13 ahead of CT, 14 ahead of MT, and 15 ahead of PT in winter. During North American daylight saving (MarchāNovember), subtract one hour from each.
The Vietnam eVisa office opens at 8am VNT on weekdays. That is 7pm ET the previous evening. The office closes at 6pm VNT (18:00), which is 4am ET. So the entire Vietnamese business day falls between 7pm ET and 4am ET from a Canadian perspective. The 1-Day Emergency cutoff (11am VNT) is 10pm ET the night before. The 1-Hour Ultra Emergency cutoff (6pm VNT) is 4am ET.

Flying Friday? Apply by Thursday 10pm ET.
Flying Monday? Apply by Sunday 10pm ET.
Flying Saturday or Sunday? Use Weekend Service (before 2am ET each day) or Boarding Letter (24/7).
