Vietnam Visa Rules Airlines Check Before Letting You Board

Vietnam Visa Rules Airlines Check Before Letting You Board

Vietnam Visa Weekend 2026: Your eVisa Not Ready for Saturday or Sunday? Here Is What to Do

VietnamVisaEasy • Updated July 18, 2026 • Processing experience since 2010

Direct answer

Vietnamese government immigration does not process eVisa applications on Saturday, Sunday, or public holidays. If your Vietnam visa is not ready and your flight is this weekend, the government system will not help you before Monday.

What works: VietnamVisaEasy Weekend Service — one priority batch per day, submit before 15:00 VNT, results 16:00–18:00 VNT. New application USD 230. Already applied on evisa.gov.vn: Speed Up USD 210do not reapply. Missed 15:00 VNT: WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 — Boarding Letter in 30 min, eVisa before landing.

15:00 VNT = 04:00 ET / 01:00 PT / 18:00 AEST Saturday or Sunday. For US travelers: Saturday batch closes Friday night.

If your flight is today and you have not applied at all: new application still possible before 15:00 VNT. After 15:00 VNT: Boarding Letter bridge available 24/7.

Why Your Vietnam Visa Is Not Processing on the Weekend

The Vietnamese immigration authority operates on Vietnamese business days only. Saturday and Sunday are not business days. Standard eVisa applications submitted any time over the weekend simply sit in a queue untouched until Monday morning, when immigration resumes batch processing from 08:00 VNT.

This catches a large number of travelers off guard, particularly US-based applicants who submitted on Thursday or Friday evening ET and assumed processing would continue over their weekend. Vietnam Time is 11 to 14 hours ahead of US timezones — a Friday 18:00 ET submission is already Saturday 05:00 VNT, meaning the earliest it enters the standard weekday queue is Monday morning VNT.

Vietnamese public holidays create the same problem. Reunification Day (30 April) combined with Workers Day (1 May) creates a 2 to 3 day consecutive processing gap. Tet can suspend processing for up to 10 days. In all these cases the government system does not help — but the Weekend Service does.

Your Situation — What to Do Right Now

Never applied — flight is Saturday or Sunday New Weekend Application USD 230. Submit before 15:00 VNT. Results 16:00–18:00 VNT. Apply online or WhatsApp.
Applied on evisa.gov.vn, still In Process Do not reapply. Weekend Speed Up USD 210. Send Reference Code + registered email + flight number to WhatsApp +84 947 754 252.
Applied, status shows Amendment Required Do not reapply. Free Path B error correction then priority resubmit into weekend batch. Same WhatsApp contact.
Missed 15:00 VNT cutoff — flight is today Boarding Letter in 30 min via WhatsApp — accepted by airlines at check-in. eVisa before landing. 24/7.

The Weekend Batch Schedule

The Weekend Service runs on a fixed daily cycle every Saturday, Sunday, and Vietnamese public holiday. There is only one batch per day.

Time VNT What happens
08:00 VNT Applications open. VietnamVisaEasy team reviews documents on receipt. Earlier submission = more review time before cutoff.
15:00 VNT Hard cutoff. All paid applications before this moment enter the day's batch. Applications after 15:00 VNT move to the following day. No exceptions.
15:00–16:00 VNT Immigration processes the batch. VietnamVisaEasy monitors each file and responds immediately if any query arises.
16:00–18:00 VNT Results delivered. Approved eVisa PDF sent by email and WhatsApp. Print and carry to check-in. If no email by 18:00 VNT, contact WhatsApp immediately.

After 18:00 VNT: no more processing until the next day's batch. Boarding Letter bridge available 24/7 for anyone who needs to board before the next batch delivers.

15:00 VNT in Your Timezone

The most common mistake: US travelers assume they have until Saturday local time to submit for Saturday's batch. In every US timezone, Saturday's 15:00 VNT cutoff falls on Friday night.

Timezone Saturday cutoff (local) Sunday cutoff (local) Practical note
ET (UTC-4/5) 04:00 Sat 04:00 Sun Apply before 04:00 Saturday ET for Saturday batch
CT (UTC-5/6) 03:00 Sat 03:00 Sun Apply before 03:00 Saturday for Saturday batch
MT (UTC-6/7) 02:00 Sat 02:00 Sun Apply before 02:00 Saturday for Saturday batch
PT (UTC-7/8) 01:00 Sat 01:00 Sun LA/SF: apply before 01:00 AM Saturday for Saturday batch
AEST (UTC+10) 18:00 Sat 18:00 Sun SYD/MEL: 6pm Saturday for Saturday batch
GMT / BST (UK) 08:00 Sat (BST) / 07:00 (GMT) 08:00 Sun (BST) UK: morning of the same day

Always calculate from VNT (UTC+7), not your local time. Current Vietnam time is always shown at the top of vietnamvisaeasy.com.

Weekend Pricing

Option Price Who What to send
New application USD 230 Never applied on evisa.gov.vn Passport scan, JPEG photo, Vietnam arrival date DD/MM/YYYY, entry port (SGN/HAN/DAD), flight number
Speed Up existing USD 210 Already applied on evisa.gov.vn, paid USD 25 Reference Code (E260705USA...) + registered email + flight number only. No re-upload.
Multiple entry add-on +USD 25 Either option above Specify at application — cannot change after approval
Boarding Letter WhatsApp only Missed 15:00 VNT cutoff, need to board today Flight number to WhatsApp +84 947 754 252. Letter in ~30 min.

30-day and 90-day validity cost the same — always choose 90 days. USD 25 government fee included in all prices above. Speed Up is USD 25 cheaper because the govt fee already paid is deducted.

The Single Most Important Warning: Do Not Reapply

When a Vietnam eVisa is sitting In Process on Saturday morning, every instinct says to reapply. This is the action that most reliably turns a fixable situation into a missed flight.

Two applications with the same passport number trigger an automatic deduplication hold in the Vietnamese immigration system. Both applications are frozen for 24 to 48 hours while immigration determines which is legitimate. Over a weekend, this hold can cover the entire Saturday and Sunday batch window. The result: two applications frozen, two USD 25 government fees paid, and a missed flight.

Speed Up works within the existing Reference Number. The USD 25 already paid is preserved as credit and deducted from the Speed Up price. If the application has an error (Amendment Required), it is corrected first at no charge, then priority-submitted into the next weekend batch. This is Path B. The correction is always faster than waiting for the deduplication hold to lift from a reapplication.

Common Entry Port Mistake on Weekend Applications

Weekend applications submitted in a panic are more likely to contain the entry port error — the most common cause of Amendment Required. The entry port on the eVisa must be the Vietnamese airport where your plane physically lands. Most US-to-Vietnam routes transit through Singapore (SIN) or Seoul (ICN). These are not entry ports.

Route Wrong Correct Vietnamese city
JFK / LAX / SYD / MEL via Singapore → HCMC SIN SGN Ho Chi Minh City
JFK / LAX via Seoul → Hanoi ICN HAN Hanoi
Any route via Kuala Lumpur / Tokyo / Dubai → HCMC KUL / NRT / DXB SGN Ho Chi Minh City

On a weekend application, a wrong entry port triggers Amendment Required, resets the processing clock to Day 1, and can cause the application to miss the day's batch entirely. Double-check the port code before submitting. VietnamVisaEasy reviews every application before submission and will flag this error before it reaches immigration.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a Vietnam visa on the weekend?
Yes, through VietnamVisaEasy Weekend Service. Vietnamese government immigration does not process standard eVisas on Saturday or Sunday. VietnamVisaEasy runs one dedicated priority batch per day: submit before 15:00 VNT, results 16:00–18:00 VNT. New application USD 230. Speed Up existing USD 210. Missed cutoff: Boarding Letter in 30 min via WhatsApp +84 947 754 252.
My Vietnam visa is still processing and my flight is Saturday — what do I do?
Do not reapply. Weekend Speed Up USD 210 — send Reference Code (E260705...) + registered email + flight number to WhatsApp +84 947 754 252. Path A: correct application, free escalation. Path B: error found, free correction then priority resubmit. Boarding Letter in 30 min as check-in bridge. Reapplying creates a 24–48h deduplication hold on both applications.
What is the deadline for weekend Vietnam visa processing?
15:00 VNT (UTC+7) Saturday or Sunday. US timezones: ET 04:00 Sat/Sun, CT 03:00, MT 02:00, PT 01:00. Australian: AEST 18:00 Sat/Sun, AEDT 19:00. UK: 08:00 BST / 07:00 GMT. For US travelers, the Saturday deadline falls Friday night — apply before Friday evening, not Saturday morning.
I missed the 15:00 VNT weekend cutoff — can I still board?
In most cases yes. WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 immediately with your flight number. Boarding Letter issued in approximately 30 minutes and accepted by airlines at check-in. Full eVisa PDF delivered before the flight lands in Vietnam. Available 24/7 including weekends and Vietnamese public holidays.
Why is weekend Vietnam visa more expensive than weekday?
Weekend processing requires a dedicated priority channel and team operating outside Vietnamese government business hours. New application USD 230 vs weekday 1-Day USD 110. If your flight is Monday and check-in closes after 10:00 VNT Monday, the 1-Day weekday tier submitted Sunday evening processes from 08:00 VNT Monday and delivers in time — saving USD 120. The weekend service is essential only when your flight departs before Monday business hours can deliver.
Does Vietnam process visas on public holidays?
Standard government processing is closed on Vietnamese public holidays. VietnamVisaEasy Weekend Service operates on all public holidays with identical rules: one batch per day, 15:00 VNT cutoff, results 16:00–18:00 VNT. Key gaps: Reunification Day 30 April plus Workers Day 1 May (2–3 consecutive days), National Day 2 September, Hung Kings Day mid-April. Tet: up to 10 days reduced processing.
What if I applied Friday evening and it is now Saturday morning?
If you applied after 15:00 VNT Friday (which includes most US Friday evening submissions), standard processing resumes Monday morning. Use Weekend Speed Up USD 210 to include your existing application in today's Saturday batch — submit before 15:00 VNT Saturday. Do not reapply. Send Reference Code + registered email + flight number to WhatsApp +84 947 754 252.
