How to Get a Vietnam eVisa 2026 — Step-by-Step Guide

Citizens of 167+ nationalities can apply for a Vietnam eVisa 100% online. There are two paths: apply directly at evisa.gov.vn (USD 25 government fee, 3–5 business days, no document check, no speed tiers) or apply through VietnamVisaEasy (from USD 50 all-in, document verification before submission, Standard through 1.5-Hour processing tiers, and 24/7 WhatsApp support).

Quick Facts — Vietnam eVisa 2026

  • Eligible nationalities: 167+
  • Government fee (self-apply): USD 25 (evisa.gov.vn)
  • VietnamVisaEasy all-in from: USD 50 (Standard, 3 working days)
  • Fastest weekday: 1.5-Hour tier — USD 185 (Mon–Fri only)
  • Weekend/holiday: Weekend/Holiday tier — USD 230, cutoff 15:00 VNT
  • Validity: Always choose 90 days — same price as 30-day

What You Need Before You Apply

  1. Passport scan: all 4 corners visible, MRZ (machine-readable zone) strip legible, no glare. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your Vietnam entry date.
  2. Passport photo: plain white background, JPEG format, taken within the past 6 months.
  3. Vietnam arrival date: the date your flight lands in Vietnam — NOT your departure date from home. Use DD/MM/YYYY format.
  4. Entry port: the first Vietnamese airport where you land — SGN (Ho Chi Minh City), HAN (Hanoi), DAD (Da Nang), PQC (Phu Quoc), or CXR (Cam Ranh / Nha Trang). Never a transit hub.

Critical Rules — Read Before Submitting

  • Always choose 90-day validity. It costs exactly the same as 30-day and gives you far more flexibility.
  • Multiple entry only if needed. Select multiple entry only if you plan to exit Vietnam into a neighboring country (Cambodia, Laos, etc.) and return. Most travelers need single entry.
  • Name must match passport MRZ exactly. The name on your eVisa must match the machine-readable zone at the bottom of your passport photo page.
  • Children need separate eVisas. Every traveler — including children — requires their own individual eVisa.

How to Apply via VietnamVisaEasy — Step by Step

  1. Go to https://vietnamvisaeasy.com/apply and choose your processing tier.
  2. Upload your passport scan. All 4 edges must be visible, the MRZ strip must be clear, no glare or shadow over text.
  3. Upload your passport photo — white background, JPEG, taken within the past 6 months.
  4. Enter your Vietnam arrival date in DD/MM/YYYY format (the date you land in Vietnam, not the date you leave home). Select the entry port: the first Vietnamese airport where you arrive (SGN, HAN, DAD, PQC, or CXR).
  5. Select 90-day validity (same price as 30-day). Choose single or multiple entry. Complete online payment.
  6. Your approved eVisa is emailed as a PDF. Print it or save it to your phone. Present it to immigration officers on arrival in Vietnam.

SGN pre-arrival declaration: Travellers arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (Ho Chi Minh City / SGN) must complete a pre-arrival declaration at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn (mandatory from 15 April 2026).

What NOT to Do

  • Do NOT enter a transit hub (Tokyo, Seoul, Dubai, etc.) as your entry port — it must be a Vietnamese airport.
  • Do NOT enter your home departure date as your Vietnam entry date — these are different dates.
  • Do NOT submit a duplicate application if your first is still processing — duplicates trigger a 24–48 hour hold for both applications.
  • Do NOT apply for 30-day validity when 90-day costs the same — always choose 90 days.
