Direct Answer
Your passport itself never gets processed or sent anywhere — it stays with you the whole time. What genuinely can be processed in 72 hours is your Vietnam e-visa, a separate electronic document. This is our standard 3-Day tier, $90, government fee included. If "72-hour passport service" is what you searched, this is almost certainly what you actually need. Passport vs. Visa: A Distinction Worth Getting Right
These two words get used interchangeably in casual conversation, but they're genuinely different things — and knowing the difference matters for understanding what any "72-hour" service can actually do:
| Your Passport | Your Vietnam Visa |
|---|---|
| Issued by your own country | Issued by Vietnamese immigration |
| Proves your identity and nationality | Grants permission to enter Vietnam |
| Stays with you the entire time | A separate PDF document, delivered by email |
| Not what gets "processed" urgently | This is what "72-hour service" actually refers to |
Nobody needs to send your physical passport anywhere for e-visa processing — you only provide a scan of the bio-data page. If a service ever asks you to mail or courier your actual passport for a Vietnam e-visa, that's worth being cautious about.
72 Hours Is Our 3-Day Tier
72 hours and "3 days" describe the same processing window, just in different units. This tier is the most cost-effective urgent option:
| Tier | Fee |
|---|---|
| 72 hours / 3-Day | $90 |
| 1-Day | $110 |
| 30–60 minutes (fastest) | $215 |
Government fee included. Full 9-tier list on our urgent Vietnam visa service page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there really a "72-hour passport service" for Vietnam?
Not for your passport itself — your passport stays with you the whole time. What can be processed in 72 hours is your Vietnam e-visa, a separate electronic document, not a change to your passport.
What's the actual difference between a passport and a visa?
Your passport is issued by your own country and proves your identity and nationality. A visa is permission from Vietnam to enter the country, issued as a separate document. You keep your same passport throughout — only the visa is newly obtained.
How much does 72-hour (3-day) Vietnam visa processing cost?
$90, government fee included — this is the 3-Day tier in our standard pricing.
Do I need to send my physical passport anywhere for this service?
No — you only need a scan or clear photo of your passport's bio-data page. Your physical passport stays with you the entire time. Be cautious of any service asking you to mail or courier your actual passport.
Is 72 hours fast enough for my situation?
If your flight is more than 3 business days away, this is likely the most cost-effective urgent tier. If it's sooner, faster tiers exist down to 30-60 minutes.
