What Is the Emergency Vietnam Visa?

Vietnam's electronic visa (eVisa) system allows travelers to obtain a valid entry authorization without visiting a consulate. Under normal circumstances, applications are processed in three to five business days. The Emergency tier bypasses the standard queue and targets a decision within 30 to 60 minutes on the same business day.

This tier is designed for travelers who have a flight departing in a matter of hours — a missed connection, a sudden business trip, a family emergency. It is the fastest new-application route available and operates exclusively on Monday through Friday during Vietnamese government working hours.

If you already have an application reference code (format: E260705USA…) from a previous submission, you do not need to start over. The Emergency Speed Up escalates your existing application for a lower fee and without paying the USD 25 government fee a second time.

Who Should Use the Emergency Tier?

• You are departing today or tomorrow on a weekday and have not yet applied for a Vietnam eVisa.
• You missed the cutoff for a slower urgent tier (1.5-Hour or 2.5-Hour) and need the fastest remaining option.
• You have a connection or layover and need visa confirmation before your first flight boards.
• Your original visa application was rejected and you must re-apply immediately for a flight within hours.
• Your airline requires proof of visa authorization before check-in and you cannot wait until the next day.

Speed Up is an escalation service — not a new application. You need a valid reference code (E260705USA… format), the email address used to register, and your flight number to Vietnam. No second USD 25 government fee is charged.

How the Emergency Process Works

Boarding Approval Letter — When You Cannot Wait

If your flight is departing within the next 30 minutes and your eVisa has not yet been approved — or your flight falls during the midday government pause (12:00–13:30 VNT) — we can issue a Boarding Approval Letter instead.

This letter confirms that your Vietnam visa application is in progress and that entry authorization will be in place before you land. Airlines accept it for boarding purposes. The letter is issued in 30 minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — including weekends and holidays.

Your eVisa continues to be processed after the letter is issued and will be emailed once the government portal confirms approval — typically within a few hours of your departure or upon arrival.

Already Applied? Use Emergency Speed Up

If you submitted an application through our service or the government portal and it shows a status of Processing or Amending, do not re-apply. Submitting a duplicate application triggers a 24–48 hour hold on both applications. Use the Emergency Speed Up instead.

Speed Up is available Monday through Friday only and costs USD 190. To proceed, you will need:

• Your reference code (format: E260705USA… — not V2026XXXXXX)
• The email address registered on the application
• Your flight number to Vietnam

No second USD 25 government fee is charged. The Speed Up service escalates your file within the official portal system — it does not create a new application.

Important Limitations to Know

Weekdays only	Emergency is Mon–Fri. The government immigration office does not process eVisas on Saturdays, Sundays, or Vietnamese public holidays.
Cutoff ~18:00 VNT	Applications received after the daily cutoff are carried to the next business day. Check Vietnam Time before ordering.
Midday pause	Government portal pauses 12:00–13:30 VNT. Applications submitted during this window queue for the 13:30 restart. A Boarding Letter bridges this gap.
No refunds	Emergency fees are non-refundable. The 30–60 minute window is a target, not a guarantee, and is subject to government portal conditions.
No Visa on Arrival	Visa on Arrival is no longer available as a tourist option. The eVisa is the current single-entry and multiple-entry travel authorization.
Children	Each child requires a separate eVisa. Do not attach children to a parent application — this can invalidate the entire family's authorization.
Entry ports	eVisas are valid at SGN, HAN, DAD, PQC, and CXR only. International transit hubs (Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, Dubai) are not entry points.
