Direct Answer
You need the visa approved before check-in, not before landing. Airlines verify at the check-in desk — Vietnamese immigration is too late. No approved eVisa or Boarding Letter at check-in means denied boarding.
Still time to apply: 1-Hour USD 185 before 07:00 ET / 04:00 PT / 21:00 AEST / 11:00 BST / 18:00 VNT on any weekday. Past that cutoff or on a weekend: Boarding Letter in ~30 minutes via WhatsApp — accepted by most airlines, full eVisa before landing. WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 →
Visa submitted but not arrived? Do not reapply. Check evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search → then Speed Up from USD 65 or free Amendment Required fix via WhatsApp.

All urgent tiers run on Vietnamese business hours Monday to Friday 08:00–18:00 VNT (UTC+7). The number of hours before your flight determines which tier is available — and which is cheapest.

VNT = Vietnam Time UTC+7. ET = Eastern Time (EDT summer UTC−4, EST winter UTC−5 — cutoff same clock hour). PT = ET−3h. MT = ET−2h. CT = ET−1h. Saskatchewan: CT year-round. AEST = UTC+10 May–Sep. AEDT = UTC+11 Oct–Apr: add 1h to AEST column. AWST (Perth): 1-Hour before 19:00. BST = UTC+1 Mar–Oct. GMT Oct–Mar: subtract 1h. IST = UTC+5:30. Mon–Fri VNT business days only for eVisa tiers. Speed Up (already applied): deduct USD 25 from each price above.
Multiple entry: add USD 25 to any tier. 30-day and 90-day validity same price — always choose 90 days.
Visa Submitted But Not Ready at Check-In
Check status at evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search with Reference Code (format E260705...) and registered email before doing anything else.
Status: In Process
Still processing. Contact WhatsApp with Reference Code + registered email + flight number. Speed Up from USD 65 — the existing application is escalated without reapplying.
Status: Amendment Required
An error was found and processing stopped completely — no email sent. Most common causes: wrong entry port (SIN, ICN, NRT, DOH, DXB entered instead of SGN, HAN, DAD), HEIC photo from iPhone, missing middle name. Free correction via WhatsApp — error fixed and resubmitted on priority track.
Do not submit a second application if you have a Reference Code. Two active applications for the same passport trigger a 24–48 hour deduplication hold on both. While both are frozen, your flight window closes. Speed Up or Amendment Required correction on the existing application is always faster than reapplying.
Five Things to Check Before Submitting
1. Entry port = Vietnamese airport, not your departure city or transit hub
The entry port must be the Vietnamese airport where the plane lands after any transit. JFK → ICN → SGN: select SGN. SYD → SIN → HAN: select HAN. The portal accepts transit codes like SIN, ICN, and NRT without flagging them — the error only surfaces when immigration reviews the file, by which point processing has stopped.
2. Full legal name including all middle names from passport MRZ
Enter name exactly as printed in the MRZ line at the bottom of the passport bio page — no abbreviations, no dropped middle names. US, Canadian, and Australian passports commonly include middle names in the MRZ. A name mismatch triggers Amendment Required at review.
3. Portrait photo as JPEG, not HEIC
Both a portrait photo and a passport bio page scan are required. iPhone default is HEIC — Vietnam Immigration requires JPEG. Fix before applying: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. Photo requirements: white background, no glasses, face 70%+ of frame, neutral expression, under 2MB.
4. Entry date = Vietnam arrival date, not departure date
Flights from the US, Canada, and Australia to Vietnam typically cross the International Date Line or add a calendar day via transit. A Monday night departure from JFK via ICN arrives in Hanoi Wednesday morning VNT — enter Wednesday, not Monday. Open booking confirmation → Vietnam-landing segment → "Arrives" column → that date is the entry date.
5. Check Vietnam day, not just your local time
Applying Friday evening ET means applying Saturday VNT — weekend queue, no urgent tiers until Monday VNT. Applying Sunday night ET means applying Monday morning VNT — business day, tiers available. Always check VNT day and time before selecting a tier.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Vietnam visa before boarding my flight or before landing?
Before boarding. Airlines verify at check-in. If no approved eVisa or Boarding Letter at check-in, boarding is denied. The Boarding Letter (~30 min via WhatsApp) bridges the gap when the full eVisa cannot be issued before departure.
How many hours before my flight do I need to apply?
3-Day USD 90: 72+ hours. 1-Day USD 110: 24–72 hours (before midnight ET). 5-Hour USD 125: before 02:00 ET day of flight. 2.5-Hour USD 155: before 04:00 ET. 1-Hour USD 185: before 07:00 ET (18:00 VNT). After all cutoffs: Boarding Letter 24/7.
Can I get a Vietnam visa the same day as my flight?
Yes on a weekday. Before 02:00 ET: 5-Hour USD 125. Before 04:00 ET: 2.5-Hour USD 155. Before 07:00 ET: 1-Hour USD 185. After 07:00 ET: Boarding Letter 24/7. Weekend: Weekend batch USD 230 before 04:00 ET Sat/Sun, then Boarding Letter.
My visa is not ready and check-in opens soon — what do I do?
Do not reapply. Check evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search with Reference Code (E260705...). In Process: Speed Up via WhatsApp from USD 65. Amendment Required: free correction via WhatsApp. Boarding Letter in ~30 min as bridge. Two active applications = 24–48h hold on both.
What is the 1-Hour Vietnam visa cutoff in ET, AEST, and BST?
07:00 ET • 04:00 PT • 21:00 AEST (22:00 AEDT) • 11:00 BST (10:00 GMT) • 12:30 IST • 19:00 AWST (Perth). These are the same moment: 18:00 Vietnam Time. After this: Boarding Letter 24/7.
