Home › eVisa Guide › Vietnam Visa Processing Time 2026

Direct Answer

Two tracks. Standard queue: 3–5 Vietnamese business days, no priority lane. Priority track: 30 minutes to 3 days depending on tier and submission time (GMT+7).

Already applied and stalled? Check evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search first — status tells you exactly what to do. Do not reapply.

Amendment Required = silent error, clock stopped. Free fix via WhatsApp +84 947 754 252.

Priority track — from USD 90, document check included before submission

All tiers run on Vietnamese immigration business hours Monday–Friday 08:00–18:00 GMT+7. Vietnam has no daylight saving — GMT+7 is fixed year-round. Government lunch pause 12:00–13:30 GMT+7 — Boarding Letter issued if check-in falls in this window.

How to Count Real Vietnamese Working Days

The most common source of confusion is counting calendar days instead of actual Vietnamese processing days. Vietnamese immigration works Monday–Friday 08:00–18:00 GMT+7 only. Weekends and public holidays are zero-processing days.

Submitted Calendar days shown Real VNT working days Assessment
Friday evening VNT3 days (Monday)<1 dayVery early — normal
Monday VNT5 days (Saturday)3–4 daysNormal range
Before Tet or public holiday7 days2–3 daysMay be normal — Speed Up if flight near
Jun–Aug peak seasonAnyAdd 2–3 daysSpeed Up if flight within 5 days
Any weekday (clean application)8+ calendar days6+ working daysContact WhatsApp — may be Amendment Required

Six Reasons Processing Takes Longer Than Expected

1. Standard queue — no priority lane on evisa.gov.vn

All self-submitted applications on the government portal are processed in order of submission during business hours. There is no way to flag urgency, request faster processing, or jump the queue as a self-applicant. The priority track through VietnamVisaEasy bypasses this queue.

2. Weekend and holiday gaps

Zero processing occurs Saturday and Sunday. Vietnamese public holidays also pause all processing. Major pauses: Tet (late January or early February, 5–7 days), Liberation Day (April 30–May 1), National Day (September 2). A standard 3-day application submitted on Wednesday before a Tet holiday can easily take 10+ calendar days.

3. Amendment Required — silent error stops the clock

When immigration review finds an error, the application is marked Amendment Required and processing stops completely. No email is sent. The status may still show "In Process" on evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search for a period before switching. Days spent in this state do not count toward processing time. The five most common causes:

Error Why portal does not catch it Fix
Wrong entry port (SIN/ICN/NRT/KUL)Portal accepts all IATA codes without geo-checkFree fix via WhatsApp — SGN/HAN/DAD entered
HEIC photo (iPhone default)Portal may accept upload but OCR fails on MRZSettings → Camera → Most Compatible → re-photo
Missing middle namePortal does not cross-check against MRZFull legal name from bio-data page MRZ line
Wrong entry datePortal does not verify against flight schedule"Arrives" date on Vietnam-landing segment
Blurry passport scanUpload succeeds but immigration OCR failsFlat surface, even light, JPEG under 2MB

4. Peak season — June to August

Application volume during northern hemisphere summer adds 2–3 days to standard processing. Standard queue can reach 7+ working days during August. Apply 10+ days before departure during peak season, or use the priority track.

5. Vietnamese public holidays — especially Tet

Tet (Vietnamese New Year, late January or early February) shuts government processing for 5–7 consecutive days. Applications submitted in the week before Tet can take 2+ calendar weeks on the standard queue. The priority track cannot override government holiday closures — Boarding Letter is the only option during full closures.

6. Duplicate application — 24–48h hold on both files

Submitting a second application with the same passport number when one is already pending triggers an automatic deduplication review. Both files are held for 24–48 hours. Neither can be approved while the hold is active. Never reapply — Speed Up the existing application instead.

Check Your Status — Then Act

Check at evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search with Reference Code (format E260705...) and registered email before doing anything else.

ApprovedDownload PDF. Verify: name vs MRZ, entry port (SGN/HAN not SIN/ICN), entry date = Vietnam arrival date. Save offline.
In ProcessRunning normally. Speed Up via WhatsApp with Reference Code + email + flight number if flight is near. USD 65–190 depending on tier.
Amendment RequiredError stopped processing. No email sent. Free correction via WhatsApp — wrong port, HEIC, name. Resubmitted priority.
No result foundWrong Reference Code or email, or payment not completed on evisa.gov.vn. Contact WhatsApp with post-payment email screenshot.

Do not reapply regardless of how long it has been.

Two applications with the same passport = 24–48 hour deduplication hold on both. Speed Up escalates the existing file on priority, deducts the USD 25 government fee already paid, and issues a Boarding Letter as bridge if check-in is imminent.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Vietnam eVisa take in 2026?

Standard queue: 3–5 Vietnamese business days (Mon–Fri GMT+7), no priority lane. Priority track: 30 min to 3 days depending on tier and submission time. After 18:00 GMT+7: Boarding Letter ~30 min, 24/7.

Why is my Vietnam eVisa taking so long?

Six causes: standard queue (no priority), weekend/holiday gap, Amendment Required (silent error), peak season Jun–Aug, Tet holiday, duplicate application. Check evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search with Reference Code first — then act on the status.

How many real working days has my application had?

Count Mon–Fri GMT+7 only, exclude weekends and holidays. Friday evening = less than 1 real day by Monday. 5 calendar days with weekend = 3 real days. Peak (Jun–Aug): add 2–3 days. 8+ calendar days on a clean application = contact WhatsApp.

My Vietnam eVisa shows Amendment Required — what does that mean?

Error found, processing stopped, no email sent. Most common: SIN/ICN entry port, HEIC photo, missing middle name. Free correction via WhatsApp. Do not reapply — 24–48h hold on both.

Can I check my Vietnam eVisa processing status?

Yes — evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search with Reference Code (E260705...) and registered email. Four statuses: Approved / In Process / Amendment Required / No result found.
