Vietnam eVisa Taking Too Long — Why It Stalls, How to Check, Speed Up Without Reapplying

Home › eVisa Guide › Vietnam eVisa Taking Too Long

Direct Answer — Check Status First

Before doing anything else: check evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search with your Reference Code (E260705...) + registered email.

In Process: Speed Up from USD 65 via WhatsApp +84 947 754 252.

Amendment Required: processing stopped silently — free correction via WhatsApp.

Do not reapply — two applications = 24–48h hold on both, neither can be approved.

Step 1 — Check Your Actual Status

Many applicants assume their application is In Process when it has silently switched to Amendment Required days earlier. The portal does not send email notifications for status changes. Check at evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search with Reference Code (E260705...) and registered email.

ApprovedDownload PDF. Verify name vs MRZ, entry port (SGN/HAN/DAD not SIN/ICN), entry date = Vietnam arrival date.
In ProcessRunning in queue. Count real working days (below). Speed Up via WhatsApp if flight is near.
Amendment RequiredError found, clock stopped, no email sent. Free correction via WhatsApp. Do not reapply.
No result foundWrong Reference Code or email, or payment incomplete. WhatsApp with post-payment screenshot.

Step 2 — Count Real Vietnamese Working Days

The standard queue processes Monday–Friday 08:00–18:00 GMT+7 only. Weekends and Vietnamese public holidays are zero-processing days. Five calendar days that span a weekend equals three real working days — well within the normal 3–5 day range.

Friday evening VNT3 days (Mon)<1 dayNormal — wait

Any weekday (Jun–Aug peak)AnyAdd 2–3 daysSpeed Up if flight within 5 days

Six Reasons Your eVisa Is Taking Too Long

1. Standard queue — no priority lane on evisa.gov.vn

Every self-submitted application on the government portal joins the same queue regardless of urgency. There is no way to flag a flight tomorrow or request faster processing as a self-applicant. The priority track through VietnamVisaEasy bypasses this queue entirely — Speed Up from USD 65 for applications already submitted.

2. Weekend and holiday gaps

Zero processing occurs Saturday and Sunday. Vietnamese public holidays add further gaps — Tet (late January or February) shuts processing for 5–7 consecutive days. A standard application submitted the Wednesday before Tet can easily take two calendar weeks. The priority track cannot override government holidays — Boarding Letter is the only option during full closures.

3. Amendment Required — silent error, clock stopped

When immigration review finds an error, the application is marked Amendment Required and all processing stops. No email is sent. The status may still appear as In Process for days before switching. The five most common errors causing this:

Error Fix
Wrong entry port (SIN/ICN/NRT/KUL)Free correction via WhatsApp — correct Vietnamese airport entered
HEIC photo from iPhoneSettings → Camera → Most Compatible → re-photograph passport
Name mismatch vs MRZFull legal name from bio-data page MRZ line entered
Wrong entry date"Arrives" date on Vietnam-landing segment, not departure date
Blurry passport scanFlat on white surface, even light, JPEG under 2MB, MRZ fully visible

4. Peak season June to August

Application volume during northern hemisphere summer adds 2–3 days to standard queue time. Standard processing can reach 7+ real working days during August. Apply at least 10 days before departure during peak season, or use the priority track.

5. Vietnamese public holidays

Major processing pauses: Tet (5–7 days), Liberation Day April 30–May 1, National Day September 2. Applications submitted before these dates can wait two or more calendar weeks on the standard queue. The priority track cannot override holiday closures — Boarding Letter bridges this gap.

6. Duplicate application — 24–48h hold on both

If a second application was submitted because the first seemed slow, both are now on a deduplication hold. Neither can be processed until the hold expires. This is the single worst outcome — it guarantees at least 24 hours of additional delay on top of whatever the original problem was. Speed Up resolves this by working with the existing file.

Step 3 — Speed Up or Free Correction

WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 with:

Reference CodeE260705... from post-payment email on evisa.gov.vn
Registered emailEmail used when submitting on evisa.gov.vn
Flight numberFull code of the Vietnam-landing flight
Local departure timeExact time and timezone from boarding pass
In ProcessSpeed Up: USD 65 (3-Day) to USD 160 (1-Hour). Escalated to priority track. Boarding Letter as bridge if flight near. No new government fee.
Amendment RequiredFree correction. Error identified and fixed. Application resubmitted on priority. Boarding Letter as bridge. No reapplication, no new government fee.

Do not reapply — ever.

Two applications with the same passport = 24–48h deduplication hold on both. Speed Up works with the existing file. No duplicate created, no new government fee charged, Boarding Letter issued immediately if the flight is near.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my Vietnam eVisa taking so long?

Six causes: no priority lane, weekend/holiday gaps, Amendment Required (silent error), peak season Jun–Aug, Tet, duplicate application. Check status at evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search first — then act on what it shows.

How many real working days has my eVisa had?

Count Mon–Fri GMT+7 only, exclude weekends and Vietnamese holidays. Friday evening = less than 1 real day by Monday. 5 calendar days with weekend = 3 real days. Over 6 real working days with no result = contact WhatsApp immediately.

Should I reapply if my Vietnam eVisa is taking too long?

No. Two applications = 24–48h hold on both. Speed Up via WhatsApp escalates the existing file without creating a duplicate.

My Vietnam eVisa has been In Process for 7 days.

Check evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search — it may silently show Amendment Required. If genuinely In Process 7+ days: WhatsApp with Reference Code + email + flight number. Speed Up from USD 65 + Boarding Letter bridge.
