Direct answer

Standard Vietnam eVisa: 3–5 Vietnamese business days (Mon–Fri, excludes weekends and public holidays). Agency urgent tiers: 3-Day, 1-Day, 5-Hour, 2.5-Hour, 1-Hour. 1-Hour deadline: 18:00 VNT = 07:00 ET / 04:00 PT / 21:00 AEST / 11:00 BST.

Recommend applying at least 10 business days before departure. During Tet (Jan–Feb) or peak season (Jul–Aug): 15–20 days. Application stuck? Check status at evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search. Do not reapply.

After all cutoffs: Boarding Letter in ~30 min, eVisa before landing. WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 — 24/7.

VietnamVisaEasy • Updated August 5, 2026 • Processing experience since 2010. Vietnamese business hours: Mon–Fri 8:00–18:00 VNT (UTC+7). This is the previous night in ET, early morning in AEST, and morning in BST.

All agency tiers include USD 25 government fee. Speed Up (already applied on evisa.gov.vn): deduct USD 25. ET = Eastern Time. AEST = Australian Eastern Standard Time (May–Sep, add 1hr for AEDT Oct–Apr). BST = British Summer Time (Mar–Oct). Perth AWST: 1-Hour before 19:00. Multiple entry: add USD 25.

Why "3 Business Days" Is Not Always 3 Calendar Days

The Vietnam eVisa is processed by the Vietnam Immigration Department during Vietnamese business hours only: Monday to Friday 8:00–18:00 VNT (UTC+7). This creates a timezone gap that catches most travelers off guard.

Timezone When VNT business hours fall locally Practical implication
ET (New York, Toronto)Previous night 21:00–07:00 ET1-Day tier submitted by midnight ET Thursday → processed Friday VNT → result by Friday evening ET
PT (Los Angeles, Vancouver)Previous night 18:00–04:00 PT1-Hour tier: submit before 04:00 PT (= 07:00 ET = 18:00 VNT)
AEST (Sydney, Melbourne)Same day 08:00 AEST – 01:00 AEST next day (overlapping)1-Hour: before 21:00 AEST. AEDT (Oct–Apr): before 22:00.
BST (London, Dublin)Same morning 02:00–12:00 BST1-Hour: before 11:00 BST. UK/IE travelers have most of the morning to submit.
IST (India)Same night 13:30–23:30 IST1-Hour: before 23:30 IST. Late evening Indian time = last VNT business hour.

Key insight: "3 business days" means 3 Vietnamese working days. If you apply on Friday 08:00 ET (= Saturday VNT), processing does not begin until Monday VNT. The 3 business days clock starts from the first VNT business day after submission.

Five Reasons Your Vietnam Visa Is Taking Longer Than Expected

1 — Vietnamese Public Holidays (including Tet)

The Vietnam Immigration Department closes for all Vietnamese public holidays. Tet (Lunar New Year) is the longest: typically 7–10 calendar days in late January or early February. Applications submitted in the days before Tet may not be processed until after the holiday ends. Other holidays that cause delays: Hung Kings Day (April), Reunification Day (April 30), Labour Day (May 1), National Day (September 2).

Rule: Traveling in January–February or around Vietnamese national holidays? Apply 20 business days ahead. During holidays only agency urgent tiers operate.

2 — Peak Season Application Volume

Two peak seasons see processing extend beyond 5 days: July–August (Northern Hemisphere summer) and December–February (Christmas/New Year/Tet). During these periods the government portal processes a significantly higher number of applications. Standard 3–5 day window becomes 5–7 days or more. Agency 3-Day tier maintains its guarantee through priority processing channels.

3 — Amendment Required (Silent Error, No Email)

Amendment Required is triggered when immigration review finds an error in the application: wrong entry port (SIN/ICN instead of SGN/HAN), HEIC photo format, missing middle name, blurry passport scan, or wrong entry date. Processing stops completely. No email notification is sent. The applicant has no idea. The application sits frozen until the error is corrected.

Check status: evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search with Reference Code. If it shows "Amendment Required": contact WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 for free Path B correction. Do not reapply.

4 — Payment Recorded But Application Not Submitted

A known issue on evisa.gov.vn: the card is charged but the application fails to register in the immigration database due to a system timeout or connection error during peak hours. The payment goes through but there is no Reference Code and no application to track. Check bank statement for the charge. If charged with no Reference Code email: contact VietnamVisaEasy via WhatsApp for assistance recovering or for a new agency application.

5 — Duplicate Application (Reapplied When Stalled)

When an application stalls, many travelers reapply thinking the first submission failed. This creates two active applications for the same passport. Vietnam Immigration's deduplication system flags both and places a 24–48 hour hold on processing either. If you have a Reference Code from the first application: do not reapply. Speed Up the existing application instead.

What to Do If Your Application Is Taking Too Long

Step 1: Check live statusGo to evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search. Enter Reference Code (E260705...) from post-payment email and registered email. Do not rely on the confirmation email — it never updates.
Status: ApprovedDownload PDF. Check entry port, entry date, and name against passport MRZ. Save offline to phone.
Status: In ProcessStill processing. If flight <3 days: Speed Up via WhatsApp with Reference Code + email + flight number. From USD 65.
Status: Amendment RequiredError found. Processing stopped. Free Path B correction via WhatsApp. Clock resets to Day 1. Do not reapply.
No Reference CodePayment may have gone through without application registering. Check bank statement. Contact WhatsApp for assistance before reapplying.
