Vietnam eVisa Ports of Entry 2026: Complete List of Airports, Land Borders, and Seaports

VietnamVisaEasy • Updated July 19, 2026 • Processing experience since 2010

Direct answer

Vietnam has 52 designated eVisa entry ports: 8 international airports, 23 land border checkpoints, and 12 seaports. You must enter through the exact port selected on your eVisa application — entering through a different port is not permitted.

The 8 international airports — the entry point for almost all travelers from the US, Australia, Canada, and Europe: SGN (Ho Chi Minh City) • HAN (Hanoi) • DAD (Da Nang) • PQC (Phu Quoc) • CXR (Nha Trang) • HUI (Hue) • HPH (Hai Phong) • VCA (Can Tho)

Critical: Entry port = Vietnamese airport where your plane lands. Never SIN, ICN, NRT, or DXB (transit hubs). Wrong entry port triggers Amendment Required with no email, resetting the processing clock.

Need to fix a wrong entry port or apply urgently? WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 — 1-Hour eVisa USD 185 before 18:00 VNT, Boarding Letter 30 min 24/7.

Watch: travelers who had wrong entry port corrected before their flight

The Most Important Thing to Understand About Entry Port

The entry port field on the Vietnam eVisa application is the single most misunderstood field — and the most consequential error. Most international travelers to Vietnam fly through Singapore Changi (SIN) or Seoul Incheon (ICN). These are transit airports. They are not entry ports.

Vietnamese immigration does not see you at Changi or Incheon. They see you when your plane lands at Tan Son Nhat (SGN), Noi Bai (HAN), Da Nang (DAD), or another Vietnamese airport. That Vietnamese airport code is what goes in the entry port field — without exception.

When SIN or ICN is entered as the port, Vietnamese immigration flags Amendment Required immediately. No email is sent. The application stops processing until the error is corrected. If this happens a week before a flight, it is a major problem. If it happens two days before, it requires urgent escalation. VietnamVisaEasy reviews the entry port before submission on every application — this is one of the key reasons travelers use agency assistance.

Entry Port by Route — Quick Reference

Route (examples) Wrong port Correct port Vietnamese city
JFK / LAX / SYD / MEL via Singapore → Ho Chi Minh City SIN SGN Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat)
JFK / LAX / SYD via Seoul → Hanoi ICN HAN Hanoi (Noi Bai)
ORD / SFO / any US via Tokyo → Ho Chi Minh City NRT SGN Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat)
Any US / AU / EU via any transit → Da Nang SIN / ICN DAD Da Nang International
Any route via HCMC domestic connection → Phu Quoc SGN PQC Phu Quoc International
JFK via Dubai (DXB) → Ho Chi Minh City DXB SGN Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat)

Rule: look at the "Arrives" column on the Vietnam-landing segment of your booking confirmation. That airport code is your entry port.

International Airports — Entry Port Codes

Eight international airports are designated eVisa entry ports. Almost all travelers arriving from the US, Australia, Canada, Europe, or other long-haul origins enter through one of these.

IATA Airport City / Province Notes for travelers
SGN Tan Son Nhat International Ho Chi Minh City Busiest airport in Vietnam. Main entry for US travelers via Singapore or Seoul. Most international long-haul routes land here.
HAN Noi Bai International Hanoi Vietnam's capital airport. Gateway to Halong Bay, Sapa, Ninh Binh. Common for travelers starting in the north.
DAD Da Nang International Da Nang Gateway to Hoi An (30km), Hue (90km). Central Vietnam entry point. Use DAD even if transiting via SIN or ICN.
PQC Phu Quoc International Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Island beach destination in the Gulf of Thailand. Direct international flights from some Asian hubs. Many travelers fly SGN then domestic to PQC — use PQC only if your international ticket lands at Phu Quoc directly.
CXR Cam Ranh International Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa Nha Trang / beach resort area. Cam Ranh is the airport name, CXR is the code. Not SGN.
HUI Phu Bai International Hue, Thua Thien Hue Hue city, Imperial Citadel. Fewer direct international flights than SGN/HAN/DAD — most Hue travelers use DAD then road transfer.
HPH Cat Bi International Hai Phong Hai Phong port city, northern Vietnam. Secondary gateway to Halong Bay area (closer than HAN for some routes).
VCA Can Tho International Can Tho, Mekong Delta Mekong Delta hub. Limited international routes — most travelers arrive at SGN and travel overland to Can Tho (3 hours).

If your international itinerary ends at SGN and you then take a domestic flight to PQC or CXR, your eVisa entry port is SGN — the first Vietnamese airport you land at. Domestic connections within Vietnam do not change the entry port.

Land Border Checkpoints — eVisa Entry Points

Travelers entering Vietnam overland from Cambodia, Laos, or China can use 23 designated land border checkpoints. Select the specific checkpoint as your entry port during eVisa application. Travelers planning to leave Vietnam, cross into Cambodia or Laos, and re-enter Vietnam need a multiple-entry eVisa (USD 50).

Additional land border checkpoints designated for eVisa entry: Binh Hiep, Ha Tien (Giang Thanh), Dinh Ba, Long Binh, Vinh Xuong (An Giang, additional Mekong crossings). Total land border checkpoints: 23. Confirm current operating status before travel as seasonal closures can affect some minor crossings.

Seaports — For Cruise Passengers and Sea Arrivals

Twelve seaports are designated for eVisa entry. Relevant primarily for cruise ship passengers and travelers arriving by private yacht or vessel. Travelers arriving at these seaports must select the seaport during application — not the nearest airport.

Ho Chi Minh City Seaport Nha Rong Port area. Cruise passenger terminal. City center HCMC.
Da Nang Seaport Da Nang Bay. Popular cruise stop for Hoi An and Hue day trips. 12km² port area.
Chan May Seaport (Hue) Thua Thien Hue. Between Da Nang and Hue. Singapore–Philippines–Hong Kong cruise route stop.

Quang Ninh Seaport Additional Quang Ninh province sea entry point (separate from Hon Gai).

Can You Enter at a Different Port Than Your eVisa Shows?

No. The entry port on the eVisa is fixed to whatever was selected during application. You must enter Vietnam through that exact port. If your travel plans change — for example, your flight now arrives at Da Nang instead of Ho Chi Minh City — you need a new eVisa with the correct entry port. You cannot simply arrive at a different port and expect to be admitted.

Similarly, an approved eVisa that shows the wrong Vietnamese airport — because the transit hub was entered instead — is invalid for entry, even though it shows Approved status. Vietnamese immigration will see the mismatch and deny entry.

If you discover a wrong entry port before your flight: contact WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 immediately. If the application is still In Process: Path B correction, free. If already approved with wrong port: new eVisa required — 1-Hour USD 185 before 18:00 VNT, Boarding Letter in 30 minutes as bridge.

Frequently asked questions

What entry port should I put on my Vietnam eVisa?
Entry port = IATA code of the Vietnamese airport where your plane lands. Via Singapore to HCMC: SGN. Via Seoul to Hanoi: HAN. Via any transit to Da Nang: DAD. Via any transit to Phu Quoc: PQC. Via any transit to Nha Trang: CXR. Never SIN, ICN, NRT, or DXB. Find the correct code on the "Arrives" line for the Vietnam-landing segment of your booking confirmation.
How many eVisa entry ports does Vietnam have?
52 designated ports: 8 international airports (SGN, HAN, DAD, PQC, CXR, HUI, HPH, VCA), 23 land border checkpoints (Vietnam–Cambodia, Vietnam–Laos, Vietnam–China), and 12 seaports. Entry through any port not on the designated list is not permitted on an eVisa.
Can I enter Vietnam at a different port than the one on my eVisa?
No. The entry port is fixed to what was selected during application. Arriving at a different Vietnamese airport or border crossing than what is on the eVisa results in denial of entry. If plans have changed, a new eVisa with the correct port is required. Contact WhatsApp +84 947 754 252 for urgent correction — 1-Hour USD 185 before 18:00 VNT.
Can I enter Vietnam overland from Cambodia with an eVisa?
Yes, if you selected the land border checkpoint as your entry port during application. Most popular: Moc Bai (Tay Ninh) for the Phnom Penh to HCMC route. Also: Ha Tien (Xa Xia), Song Tien, Tinh Bien, Xa Mat. If you plan to fly into Vietnam, cross into Cambodia, and re-enter Vietnam, you need a multiple-entry eVisa (USD 50).
What happens if I put the wrong entry port on my eVisa?
Before approval: Amendment Required flagged with no email, application stops. Path B correction free via WhatsApp +84 947 754 252. After approval with wrong port: eVisa is technically approved but invalid for the trip. Airlines or Vietnamese immigration may deny boarding or entry. New eVisa needed with correct port — 1-Hour USD 185 before 18:00 VNT, Boarding Letter 30 min bridge.
My international flight lands at SGN but I then take a domestic flight to Phu Quoc — what is my entry port?
Your entry port is SGN. Vietnamese immigration processes you at the first Vietnamese airport you land at — Tan Son Nhat (SGN). The domestic connection to Phu Quoc (PQC) happens after you clear immigration at SGN. Use PQC as entry port only if your international ticket (from a foreign country) lands directly at Phu Quoc Airport.
Can cruise passengers use a Vietnam eVisa at seaports?
Yes. 12 seaports are designated eVisa entry points including Ho Chi Minh City Seaport, Da Nang Seaport, Chan May (Hue), Hon Gai (Halong Bay), Nha Trang Seaport, Hai Phong Seaport, and Vung Tau. Cruise passengers must select the correct seaport as entry port during application — not the nearest airport. Confirm the ship's tender or docking port with your cruise line before applying.
