How to Count Real Vietnamese Working Days

Vietnamese immigration processes Monday–Friday 08:00–18:00 GMT+7 only. Weekends and public holidays are zero-processing days. The clock starts when the application enters the queue — not when it was submitted, and not including time spent as Amendment Required.

Submitted Calendar days elapsed Real working days Verdict
Friday evening GMT+73 days (Monday)<1 dayNormal — still processing

Why Standard Processing Takes Longer Than Expected

1. No priority lane on evisa.gov.vn

Every self-submitted application joins the same queue regardless of urgency, travel date, or nationality. There is no way to flag a flight tomorrow or mark an application as urgent through the government portal. The only way to access a priority track is through a government-authorised agency channel.

2. Amendment Required stops the clock silently

If immigration review finds an error, the application is flagged Amendment Required and all processing stops. No email is sent. The status may continue showing In Process for days before switching. Days spent as Amendment Required do not count toward processing time — the clock resets when the corrected application is resubmitted. The five most common errors: wrong entry port (SIN/ICN/NRT instead of SGN/HAN/DAD), HEIC photo, missing middle name, wrong entry date, blurry scan.

3. Weekend and holiday gaps

Zero processing on Saturday and Sunday. Vietnamese public holidays add further gaps — Tet (late January or February) shuts processing for 5–7 consecutive days. A standard application submitted the Wednesday before Tet can wait two calendar weeks. The priority track cannot override government holidays — Boarding Letter is the only option during full closures.

4. Peak season volume

June to August northern hemisphere summer pushes application volume up significantly. Standard queue processing can stretch to 7–10 real working days during August. Apply at least 10–14 days before departure during peak season, or use the priority track.

Processing Time by Nationality — Entry Port Reference

Processing time is the same for all nationalities on the same tier. However the most common error that stops processing varies by nationality and route. Correct the port before submitting to avoid Amendment Required delays.
